Joanna Jury
Senior Lecturer History- Biography
Dr. Joanna Jury earned a BA in History from LaGrange College, an MA in Classics from Durham University, and a PhD in History from Georgia State University. She is an intellectual historian who researches ancient Rome and its later receptions. Her dissertation examined Cicero’s de Oratore and its place as the first text to be printed in Renaissance Italy. At Georgia State, Dr. Jury teaches premodern world history. She incorporates active pedagogies, including Reacting to the Past, into her courses to foster student engagement. She also serves as the faculty adviser for Phi Alpha Theta.
