Eliza Martin

Dr. Martin is interested in the intersection of social and environmental history, especially the impacts large water infrastructure projects have on the people and environment in California and the North American West.  Dr. Martin teaches and writes about issues of race, class and gender and how “ordinary” people shape history.  A product of and a staunch believer in liberal arts education, she aims to help students think critically, express themselves clearly, and become better writers, skills that will serve them well no matter which path they follow after graduation.  She earned her MA and PhD in History from the University of California, Santa Cruz.  At Georgia State, Dr. Martin teaches courses in both US and World History.
